What is post-quantum cryptography?

Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is a new generation of cryptographic algorithms designed to remain secure even against quantum computers.

Why is it needed?

Many current systems rely on mathematical problems that are hard for classical computers: factoring large numbers (RSA) and the discrete logarithm (ECC and Diffie-Hellman). A sufficiently powerful quantum computer solves them with Shor's algorithm, breaking the cryptography that protects the internet today.

What is Q-Day?

It is the moment when a quantum computer will be able to break today's public-key cryptography. Google has marked 2029 as the year of the definitive cryptographic break: the transition must start today.

What is "harvest now, decrypt later"?

It is an attack already underway: adversaries capture encrypted information today to store it and decrypt it once quantum technology is powerful enough. Long-lived data (financial, clinical, government) is already at risk.

What is a CBOM?
