What it assesses
Who prepares each payment, who approves it and how each of them signs in to online banking. This is where impersonation and internal fraud begin.
How the payment file travels from your system to the bank, and whether someone could change an account or an amount along the way unnoticed.
Where the keys that sign or encrypt payments are stored and who maintains them. A key on a user's computer undoes the best cryptography.
The result combines two independent measures. The controls score, from 0 to 100, says how well your payments are protected today. The exposure index, also from 0 to 100, says how attractive your organization is to fraud based on its size, its sector and the number of banks it works with. Exposure is not a good or bad grade, but at 50 or more each level requires 10 more control points. Without segregation of duties or without two-factor authentication the result is never Advanced: without those two controls, a single compromised user can move money.
Crypto-Vault® encrypts payment files from your system to the bank, with crypto-agility by default and post-quantum encryption.
